Digitalizing Germany. Together.
Our mission
Together with public administration, we are shaping a digital state. As an equal partner, we support public institutions on their journey to driving their own digital transformation.
Agile. Flexible. Dynamic. In our culture, we think and act like a start-up, yet we are firmly established and reliable in our structure.
As a federally owned limited liability company, DigitalService is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Federal Republic of Germany. We work directly with federal ministries and authorities. Our focus is not on profit but on purpose: creating a digital Germany that works better for everyone.
Open positions
Do you want your work to make a real difference? So do we. With us, you’ll design digital solutions that make public services simpler and better.
We believe in an open, learning-oriented culture where exchanging ideas, learning from each other, and developing personally are part of everyday work.
Take a look at our current job openings and find out where you can contribute your skills.
We are currently not offering any internships, including mandatory internships.
Why? Because we do not currently have the necessary resources or learning and teaching spaces in our projects to supervise you and meet our standards.
We know how important it is to gain early insights into the world of work—and we are looking into whether we can create suitable formats in the future.
Application process
We want to get to know applicants well and give you a transparent insight into who we are, what we do, and how we work. This process takes time, but it helps both sides make an informed decision.
Here’s an overview of the individual steps:
Your application
We review applications solely based on professional qualifications and the key criteria of the role. Please refrain from including a photo in your CV or sharing information such as your place of residence, age, gender, or marital status.
Initial interview
After receiving your application, we’ll get back to you within about two weeks with an invitation to an initial screening call or a rejection.
Deep dive interviews
If the first call goes well, there will be two Deep Dive interviews. These focus on your professional skills, values, and expectations for teamwork and collaboration.
Leadership get-to-know (optional)
You will meet the strategic manager of your future discipline. The conversation will also address our organization and the specifics of digital transformation in public administration.

Frequently Asked Questions
We operate entirely in the cloud and rely on modern collaboration tools. These include Google Workspace, Confluence, Miro, and Asana, among others. Depending on the role and team, additional specialized tools may be used.
We work in a hybrid setup. Remote work is possible, but in-person collaboration and regular meetings on site are also important to us. We therefore do not offer fully remote positions.
How often you work from our Berlin office depends on your specific role. For most roles, on-site presence ranges from once a week to twice a month. Exceptions include positions that require more frequent on-site presence due to the nature of the work, such as office management, IT support, or leadership roles. Teams may also have regular team days, with the frequency varying from team to team.
Overall, flexibility is important to us. Depending on the role and the phase of a project, additional appointments, meetings, or workshops may take place in the office. There are also departmental, project, and company-wide offsites throughout the year.
Our place of work is Berlin. However, you don’t have to live in Berlin, as we offer flexible mobile working. Depending on the position, regular on-site presence may be required. In this case, we do not cover travel or accommodation costs.
That depends on your project and role. Business trips may be required, for example, for meetings with federal ministries or other government agencies. Most trips are within Berlin, although occasional travel to other government agencies elsewhere in Germany is also possible. Overall, however, the amount of travel is manageable.
To help you get off to a good start with us, we have designed a structured onboarding process. It consists of organization-wide onboarding, specialized onboarding within your team, and support from a buddy. This way, you’ll get to know DigitalService, your team, and your responsibilities step by step.
We have a transparent compensation system with clearly defined levels and salary bands. We prioritize fairness, comparability, and transparency. We explain in detail how our compensation system works and the principles we use to determine salaries in our blog post, “About level, money, and fairness: our new salary system.”
